Safe Forklift Operation

6 hours on Onsite Training for employees

In addition to reviewing the rules for safe driving, the goal of this operator training is to teach, among others, the different categories of forklifts depending on the workplace and to explain the centre of gravity, the lifting capacity and the different sources of power.

Learning objectives

  • To know the applicable regulation(s)
  • To identify hazards, to put preventative measures in place and control the work environment
  • To comply with the forklift’s capacity plate and work within its operational limits
  • To understand what factors influence forklift stability
  • To learn the traffic rules and how to handle loads
  • To be aware of safety measures when refuelling
  • To understand the rules to follow when lifting a worker using a forklift
